What Awaits You on the Day of the Operation? Step-by-Step Hair Transplant Process

The most important day on this journey you embark on to achieve your dream hair is the hair transplant operation day. It is perfectly normal to feel a little nervous and anxious as well as excited about this day. As a professional team, our job is to make this process as comfortable, transparent, and safe as possible for you. Eliminating the unknown is the best way to reduce anxiety.

Here is our step-by-step operation day guide explaining what awaits you from the moment you step into our clinic until the moment you return home at the end of the day:

Step 1: Arrival at the Clinic and Final Planning with the Doctor

When you arrive at our clinic in the morning, you will be welcomed by our team. You come together with your doctor one last time before the operation to review the whole process again. At this stage, your previously decided natural hairline design is redrawn on your face and your approval is obtained. It is the right time to ask any final questions you have in mind.

Step 2: Preparation for the Operation

After your approval, you are taken to the preparation room. You put on a surgical gown specially prepared for you. Your hair is cut in accordance with the technique of the operation (usually very short) and your before photos are taken. These photos are kept in our medical archive to track your progress.

Step 3: Application of Local Anesthesia

Local anesthesia is applied so that the operation is completely painless. This stage is perhaps the most felt part of the whole day. The donor area (usually the nape region) where hair follicles will be taken and the area to be transplanted are numbed with very fine needles. After the first few injections, the area becomes completely numb and you will not feel any pain or ache during the rest of the operation.

Step 4: Harvesting the Grafts (Extraction Stage)

The first phase of the operation begins after the anesthesia fully takes effect. While you lie comfortably face down, our expert team carefully harvests your hair follicles (grafts) one by one from the donor area using a micro motor used in the FUE technique. This process takes about 2-3 hours, and you can listen to music or even sleep during this time.

Step 5: Break and Lunch

After the graft harvesting process is completed, a pleasant break is given. You will have the opportunity to rest and meet your needs while eating the lunch we have prepared for you. This break allows you to gather energy for the second half of the operation.

Step 6: Opening Channels and Implanting Grafts

The second and final phase of the operation, the implantation stage, begins. At this stage, your doctor opens micro-channels in the area to be transplanted in accordance with the natural exit direction and angle of the hair. This is the most artistic and expert part of the operation. Then, the harvested grafts are meticulously placed one by one into these channels by our team. This process also takes about 3-4 hours.

Step 7: End of the Operation and Dressing

The operation ends when the implantation of all grafts is completed. While no bandage is applied to the transplanted area, your donor area where the grafts were taken is covered with a special bandage. The total operation time generally varies between 6 to 8 hours depending on your graft count.

Step 8: Final Checks and Discharge

At the end of the operation, you are given a care kit containing the medications you should use in the following days (antibiotics, painkillers, etc.) and instructions for the recovery process. Along with a special pillow to support your neck, you can safely return to your home or hotel with your waiting companion.

As you can see, the hair transplant day is a process where every step is planned and your comfort is prioritized. All you have to do is sit back and trust our expert team.
